About the Business
If you’ve ever dreamed of (or thought) living in one of the most beautiful places, owning and operating a truly gratifying business, our venture may be for you!
Ten years ago Brett and I bought this property as a dying, run down nursery. Today it’s a profitable, thriving, and inspiring nursery, (which we operate 7 months out of the year, our Winter’s are spent with family, and our home away from home, Hawaii.) ISLANDSCAPE is the kind of setting, that when you open and walk through the gates in morning, even after ten years, the array of textures and colors overwhelms your senses, which makes it hard to believe that “this is my work environment everyday” Wow!
This is a creation to be proud of without doubt, many of our customers say, “it feels more like a sacred place than a retail nursery,”comments like these even make the most exhausting days manageable. Our view out the south gate is equally as stunning, looking out over Weeks Point Wetland, to the head of Fisherman Bay, and the snow capped Olympic mountain range in the distance.
So why on Earth would we be selling this amazing venture and the property it resides on? As plans for retirement become a reality, the first step is to simplify. And in our case simplifying means giving something up, so we’ve had to make a choice and regretfully that means offering up ISLANDSCAPE, property and all. Since the property is now zoned residential/commercial, we have had a rendering done by one of our local architects to show the potential for a “tower” addition up the back of the existing building. (View the architect's drawings). The “tower” idea was inspired by the several existing water towers that can be seen in Lopez Village as historic landmarks, (one can be seen on the Lopez Chamber website.) This addition would provide living quarters for the new owner or potentially a manager on site. Though this property is located right in the middle of Lopez Village, it feels surprisingly private as it is completely enclosed by a custom built cedar fence, with three entry gates on the north, south and west sides, and wonderful, southern exposure. Parking is also included for convenient loading and unloading right out the back gate.
Though many of our loyal customer’s (who have been incredibly supportive, generous with kind words and gifts of food over the years,) would be disappointed to see us go and possibly the nursery, it’s a choice we’ve had to make. But perhaps someone out there also has a vision or a better idea for this ¼ acre lot, 800 sq.ft. building w/700 sq. ft. conservatory greenhouse attached, ( view pictures on other parts of this website,) in the middle of Lopez Island’s only real area of commerce. Maybe it’s time to follow your dream, and live a life that most of your friends will envy. The possibilities for this property are open to your imagination, or maybe our little retail nursery is just perfect for you at this point in your life. Interested parties should know that we are passing on an excellent reputation, and held with respect in our community and to our patrons, as well as our growers, vendors, and our faithful employees, many who have become like family to us over the years of making ISLANDSCAPE a success.
A plant nursery sounds great but a little unsure of your capabilities, from a physical stand point, yes, you need to know how to use your body, and it needs to work for you, or have people that can handle being physical, (a great fitness program!) To insure business success, current owner is willing to work with new owner in all aspects of plant care, and all records from the last ten years of general nursery operations. This business and property is being offered free of complicated debt issues and in absolutely fully stocked and ready to operate condition. Adequately funded and motivated inquires may be made to pbs@rockisland.com or by phone @ 360-468-3416.
THIS IS TRULY A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY!
